(Members and invited guests)

John Melia, Founder, The Wounded Warrior Project.

John Melia is a wounded veteran, entrepreneur, and a non-profit consultant. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of the State of

New York and completed the Business Executive Program for Non-Profit Leaders at Stanford Graduate School in 2007.

John began his military career as an officer in the Maryland Army National Guard in 1985. He went onto to serve as the Infantry Corporal to the First Marine Division in 1991. His conduct earned him many military decorations such as the Combat Action Ribbon and the Navy Achievement Medal. The burns and injuries John suffered in a 1992 helicopter crash led to his retirement three years later. During his retirement, John volunteered to bring care packages to wounded veterans and found that younger veterans returning from the

Middle Eastdid not get the help needed to readjust into society. To meet these needs John founded the Wounded Warrior Project. Today, the organization not only provides care packages but also counseling, sports programs and job placement services.

To share the success earned by The Wounded Warrior Project, John started The Raiser Group – an organization that offers business consultation to non-profits. His experience and passion has earned him a place on the Board of several organizations around the country.
