Speaker: Orlando Sanchez

Orlando Sanchez came to Houston as a child, fleeing Communist oppression in Cuba with his family. He’s a graduate of Bellaire High School and the University of Houston, and a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and the Texas Air National Guard. Orlando served 6 years on Houston’s City Council and was assigned to the Council’s Budget Committee. Elected as Treasurer for Harris County for 12 years, he won numerous awards and recognition for providing transparency to the voters of Harris County. He served as vice-chair of the Legislative Affairs Committee for the County Treasurers Association of Texas. During his time as County Treasurer, he received his certification as a County Investment Officer.

Orlando is a life member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and the 100 Club of Houston. He is chairman of the University of Houston Foundation Board of Trustees and served as its Investment Committee Chairman. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Capital Bank and serves on the bank’s Audit Committee and on the Assets & Liabilities Committee. Orlando serves his community as a member of the Board of Directors of HCA Hospital Northwest. He is a fellow of the British-American Project and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Speaker: Chief Larry J. Satterwhite

Larry J. Satterwhite is the City of Houston’s Director of Public Safety and Homeland Security, bringing 34 years of law enforcement experience to his role. He began his career with the Houston Police Department in 1990 and served in Patrol, Investigations, SWAT, Criminal Intelligence, Special Operations, Homeland Security, and Field Operations before retiring as Interim Chief of Police. His leadership experience includes overseeing security for major events such as Super Bowl 51 and the World Series, as well as serving as incident commander during Hurricane Harvey and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Chief Satterwhite holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a master’s degree in Strategic Leadership and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and FBI National Executive Institute. He is committed to building trust, strengthening relationships, and developing the people around him. He served in the United States Navy Reserve before joining HPD and is married with two children.

Speaker: Senator Joan Huffman

Senator Joan Huffman started her career as a public servant in 1981. Upon earning her undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University, she became a secretary for the Harris County District Attorney’s office. It was there that she became inspired by the work of prosecutors and decided to enroll in night classes at the South Texas College of Law while continuing to work full time.

Upon earning her law degree, Joan was hired as a prosecutor and advanced from misdemeanor court to Chief Felony Prosecutor, Special Crimes Gang Prosecutor, and Legal Counsel to the Organized Crime Narcotics Task Force. She served as lead prosecutor in over 100 jury trials, including murders, aggravated robberies, and sexual assaults of adults, and children. Senator Huffman earned a reputation as a fair and tough enforcer of the law both as a prosecutor and a twice elected Judge to the 183rd Criminal District Court in Harris County.

Senator Huffman was first elected to the Texas Senate in 2008 and has been re-elected five times. She currently serves as Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, and as a senior member of the Senate Committee on Criminal Justice and the Legislative Budget Board.

Senator Huffman’s pragmatic approach to problem-solving has allowed her to effectively represent her district and Texans. Her leadership has earned recognition from various advocacy and public safety organizations. Recently, she was named the “89th Legislature Senator of the Year” by the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas, and received the “2025 Exemplary Conservative Award” from the Conservative Roundtable of Texas and the “2024 Luminary Award” from the Texas Healthcare & Bioscience Institute. She is also the only three-time recipient of the Texas District and County Attorneys Association’s “Law and Order Award” for her work to enhance public safety and victims’ rights.

Speaker: Red O'Laughlin

Red O’Laughlin is a distinguished researcher, best-selling author, and international public speaker dedicated to exploring the intricate chemical reactions in the human body at the cellular level. With a keen focus on uncovering cause-and-effect relationships, Red emphasizes the importance of addressing root causes rather than merely treating symptoms. He often states, “Treat symptoms, and you will always treat symptoms. You must treat the cause of a problem to correct it.”

Red is the author of eight insightful books covering personal growth, health and wellness, writing, and religion. His expertise spans health and wellness, longevity, and age-related diseases. In addition to his writing, Red has served as a military and corporate trainer and a college educator, sharing his knowledge with diverse audiences.

As a Distinguished Toastmaster, he has delivered hundreds of engaging speeches to audiences of all sizes, inspiring individuals to pursue healthier, more fulfilling lives.

Being a published author is one way to establish credibility as a business owner. Public speaking is another way. At a Toastmasters meeting, I spoke about how being introduced as a published author increases the speaker’s credibility, mainly when the speaker writes in the same field they speak. About a year later, one of the members of that meeting tracked me down. He had written a book but could not get it published. Three weeks later, he had a copy of his new book in his hands.

I have spoken at many venues including the NATO School in Oberammergau, Germany, International Logistics Symposiums, Professional Society meetings, Senior Corporate and Military Staffs, and over 125 presentations on the USA Global TV & Radio Network Talking Heads show. Additionally, I have taught statistics at the college level for three years.

Speaker: Blake Pfeffer

Blake Pfeffer is a Texas native whose life blends a distinguished professional career with deep agricultural roots. He is re red from a 36-year career in the mortgage industry. Alongside his brother Kirk, he manages and develops the family farm in Waller County—parts of which trace their title back to Stephen F. Austin's “Old Three Hundred” grant to Jared Grace, a foundational part of Texas history. His family traces its Texas roots to Noah Smithwick, a partcicipant in the Texas Revolution on who later served as a Texas Ranger. Blake earned his degree from the University of Texas, where he studied Finance and Engineering Route to Business. Above all, he is a devoted family man who has been married to his wife Jeanne for thirty-six years, and together they’ve raised four adult children. Whether on the farm, at work, or at home, Blake’s life reflects a commitment to tradition, responsibility, and community rooted in the values of his home state.
